FAQ

What is Tune in one sentence?

An audio server you install at home that brings together your local library and your streaming subscriptions, and drives your listening zones (DLNA, AirPlay, Chromecast, local output).

What hardware does it run on?

macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon), Windows 10/11 and Linux x86_64. A mini-PC, a Linux-based NAS, or simply your main computer is enough. Tune is light on resources.

Which streaming services are supported?

**Available today**: Tidal (HiRes FLAC), Qobuz (HiRes FLAC), Spotify (catalog browsing only, no playback), Deezer (catalog + previews). **Coming soon**: YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Apple Music. Tune does not resell any streaming subscription: you use your existing subscriptions.

Which devices can receive the sound?

Anything that speaks **DLNA / UPnP**, **AirPlay 1 or 2**, **Chromecast Audio**, as well as the machine's local audio output. That covers most recent network amplifiers (Marantz, Denon, NAD, Yamaha, Sonos via DLNA…), connected speakers, recent TVs, and the Mac/PC itself.

Multi-room?

Yes. You create **zones**, assign one or more devices to them, and play the same track — or different tracks — in each zone. Synchronization between zones depends on the underlying protocol; AirPlay 2 and some DLNA devices are perfectly in sync.

Audio quality?

Tune degrades nothing: if your source is FLAC 24/192 or DSD, that is what comes out. The server delivers **bit-perfect** audio to outputs that support it. For streaming, we obtain the highest quality available from the provider (HiRes FLAC on Tidal and Qobuz, for example).

What about privacy?

Tune never sends what you listen to. It does send telemetry to mozaiklabs.fr, and it is on by default. At startup: the version, operating system, CPU architecture and the list of available streaming services. Every hour: random instance identifiers, the version, operating system, track count, uptime, the machine's hostname, the services you are signed in to, the devices discovered on your network (name, type, MAC address, manufacturer, model), plus your license key and a hardware fingerprint (SHA-256 hash) if you have one. Once a day: library counters (tracks, artists and albums with a biography). After each scan: a request for community biographies, by MusicBrainz ID, for the artists and albums that have none.

Why: to validate the license (a license is active on one server at a time) and to compute usage statistics (versions, platforms, devices).

To turn it off: Settings › System › Cloud › Telemetry, or the environment variable TUNE_TELEMETRY=false. Once it is off, the only calls left are the revalidation of your license key (key, fingerprint, server identifier) if you have one, and the refresh of your mozaiklabs.fr account if you linked it. Sharing your metadata with the community stays off until you turn it on. All of this can be checked in the source code.

Is it free? What license?

**The core is free**: library, streaming and multi-room with up to 3 zones, with no time limit. **Premium is optional**: it adds, among other things, unlimited zones and synchronized zone groups, Crossfeed Pro and playlist transfer. The source code is **public** on GitHub under the **Business Source License 1.1** (source-available): personal, non-commercial use is permitted; commercial use requires a separate license. Each release switches to **Apache 2.0** four years after it is published.

How can I try Tune?

Download Tune from **mozaiklabs.fr/download** (macOS, Windows, Linux, Docker): no account is needed to install it. A **free account** on mozaiklabs.fr, activated through the link sent by email, gives you access to the forum. Until **November 30, 2026**, **Premium is free for Pioneers**: you turn it on from your account page.
